Signs and Symptoms of Adrenal Fatigue
In our culture adrenal problems are at epidemic proportions. The average American consumes 180 pounds of refined sugars per year. In 2003 Americans were consuming 142 pounds per year, an increase of 27%.
Caffeine and sugar consumed in large amounts will harm your adrenal glands faster that anything else. Some of the most common symptoms of adrenal fatigue include fatigue, hair loss, and sleep problems.
How do we keep our adrenal glands happy and healthy? Once a woman notices the symptoms of losing her hair, not sleeping at night, and having trouble getting off the couch during the day, adrenal fatigue has already set in.
First, the thyroid and adrenal gland work together. If one is not working, the other one will probably not work up to its full capacity.
Adrenal problems can cover-up thyroid problems. If a woman’s adrenal glands are being stressed by loss of sleep, excessive sugar and caffeine, and a lifestyle of high processed foods, thyroid problems can show up with the adrenal problems. Then thyroid problems often lead to insulin resistance problems. Subsequently insulin resistance can directly result longevity.
When insulin resistance and blood sugar problems start, a woman has an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, and Type 2 diabetes.
Let’s us look at some of the early signs and symptoms of adrenal fatigue.
Reliance on sunglasses. A woman who has over-sensitivity to bright sunlight might be suffering from adrenal problems. The way to strengthen the adrenals is to be out in the midday sun with no sunglasses. Try to run errands with your sunglasses off, and use your sunglasses when you drive. As a woman’s diet improves, she should notice less sensitivity to sunlight.
Cheeks hollowing out. Hallow cheeks can mean that the person consumes excessive sugar and caffeine. Forget the collagen injections and take a look at diet.
Lines in fingertips. Do you notice lines in your fingertips? Multiple vertical lines may mean adrenal stress. You want to see plump fingertips.
Pale lips. Lips that have no color is not an age problem, but a sign of weak adrenals. If grains, starches, refined sugar, and caffeine are limited from the diet, most women will notice a return of color to their lips.
Lower leg balding. Do you have bald patches or spare hair in area that use to have hair? Boys with sparser facial, arm, and leg hair could be a sign of adrenal fatigue.
Knee or back pain unexplained. Weakness in the muscles can also be a sign of adrenal insufficiency. Back or knee pain, with no accompanying structure defect, may mean weaknesses in the muscle caused by adrenal stress.
